Spotted Nutcracker in morning glow 🐦⬛
I photographed this beautiful spotted nutcracker in the soft golden light of an early alpine morning. Its speckled plumage and strong bill make it perfectly adapted for life in the mountains. Nutcrackers are famous for storing thousands of seeds and nuts each year, especially from Swiss stone pines. Many of these hidden treasures are never retrieved, which helps new trees grow and keeps alpine forests thriving.
