The cave literally spat me out. This clip was taken at the exit of the “Veci” section of Oliero. Heavy rain the day before filled up the aquifer so Oliero was fully charged. On the way out it’s funneled into Rocky passages where the water accelerates — and that’s where things get technical even after surfacing.
High flow Cave diving is an interesting balance. In many cases of strong flow can actually increase safety, it shortens the distance to the exit by moving you out of it, if something goes wrong. But that only works if the dive is properly planned and understood.
It was intense, fun, and incredibly rewarding, but also a powerful reminder that water can have a lot of power.
