Between a lake, forests, meadows and mountains. The last 2 weeks we hiked 3 stages of the Waldstätterweg, a multi-day hike around lake Vierwaldstättersee in the heart of Switzerland. It’s a region we never really got to know, even though we’ve driven past many times in the last years. We would have never thought that it’s maybe the most idyllic area of Switzerland: Easily reachable by public transport, we always started at the level of the lake, from where we hiked routes along the shores, often hiking a little bit up or down every day. We passed picturesque villages, took rockier and less adventurous paths, enjoyed lunch with our feet dangling in the lake and treated ourselves with delicacies from local farm shops. .
